Coltene Roeko Gelatamp is a gelatin sponge indicated for the prophylaxis of wound infections and secondary bleeding following dental extractions and surgical procedures. Unlike conventional gelatin sponges, Gelatamp contains colloidal silver, which provides a broad antibacterial effect throughout the entire absorption period and gives the sponge its characteristic brown color.

Gelatamp supports rapid hemostasis, stabilizes the blood coagulum, and promotes undisturbed wound healing. It is completely resorbable and acts locally, ensuring excellent tolerability without systemic effects.

Composition :

• Hardened gelatin Ph. Eur. – 9.5 mg
• Colloidal silver Ph. Eur. – 0.5 mg

Indications :

• Treatment of alveoli and wound cavities after:
• Extractions
• Apical amputations
• Maxillary sinus perforations
• Other surgical procedures (e.g. removal of tumors or retained teeth)
• Prophylaxis of secondary cavity formation
• Prevention of wound infections
• Secondary hemorrhage prophylaxis
• Dressing after gingivectomy and in periodontopathies

Mode of Action :

• Fully resorbed within approximately 4 weeks, matching the healing phase

Direction to Use :

• Supplied sterile and ready for use
• Trim sponge to fit the wound cavity if necessary
• For larger wounds, two sponges may be used without compression
• Do not compress the sponge to preserve its structure and absorption capacity
• After extraction, allow blood to accumulate in the alveolus
• Place the dry sponge into the blood-filled wound cavity and allow full absorption
• Ensure the sponge does not protrude beyond the gingival margin
• Suture if required; no subsequent rinsing is necessary
